From Open Flames to Touchscreens: A Manufacturer’s Promise to Never Forget Its Roots

Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, electricity and electric lights were scarce in rural Hunan and vast areas of China. Many elderly locals smoked with long brass-stemmed tobacco pipes, lighting the pipe bowl over open flames or oil lamps.

When electric bulbs were first brought to villages in the early 1980s, some elders tried to ignite their tobacco by touching the pipe against the light bulb. Of course, it never worked. Frustrated, a few smashed the bulbs, believing this strange new device was of no use.
More than four decades have passed. China has achieved remarkable development. Many vivid stories from that era are fading away. The younger generations can hardly believe these seemingly funny scenes once really happened.

These memories constantly remind us to keep working diligently and learning continuously, striving to contribute to social progress.
